One Christmas tradition that has stuck in my family since I was a child, is that of tree presents. Tree presents were small gifts – one for each of us – that my Mum would put on the tree as a decoration until after Christmas lunch, when we were allowed to open them. It’s something we still do. I don’t have a tree but my parents do so the tree presents still dutifully adorn its branches.

I now buy a tree present for everyone aswell. It’s always something small, like a key ring or packet of sweets, however this year I went even smaller and I’ve got everyone a matchbox!

I was delighted when I discovered these matchboxes at inamatchbox. They’re the ideal size and item for a tree present. There are various ones to choose from on the website. I went for White Christmas, You’re a Star, Daddy Cool and Beer Garden. One each for mother, father, sister and boyfriend. You can probably work out which is for who.

The contents are lovely and quirky and I think they’re a lovely, tiny gift idea for when you’re just looking for something small. Plus once they’ve been wrapped up they really do look like presents and are perfect for hanging on the tree until Christmas Day!
